Why do I need banking codes?
You need banking codes when you start banking in your online or mobile bank. You can also provide identification to different organisations and authorities using your banking codes, such as the Tax Administration’s, Kela’s or insurance companies’ services. The banking codes act as your electronic signature.
When you pay with your card online, your identity and the security of the payment method are ensured using the banking codes. In order to confirm the matters you take care of with your banking codes, you can download the OmaVahvistus PIN code app to make things even easier.
How to activate your banking codes
You can get banking codes from your nearest OmaSp branch when we open an online banking service agreement for you. For activating the banking codes, you need to be 18 years of age and provide the bank with an official personal ID approved by the bank. Banking codes can be activated for minors with the consent of their guardians.
Authenticating yourself over the phone
When you call OmaSp’s customer service, you can provide authentication by phone. Phone authentication works with all Finnish banks’ online banking codes and mobile IDs. We are happy to advise you on how phone authentication works. To guarantee secure service, all calls are recorded.
Banking codes and security
Banking codes are personal, so keep them safe. If you suspect that someone has accessed your banking codes or other information or they have been stolen, immediately call the number 020 7640 600 (weekdays, 8 am to 8 pm, Saturdays 10 am to 2 pm) or the number 020 333 (open around the clock). In situations like this, your banking codes will be closed for your own safety. You can get new codes by contacting your branch.
Locked online banking codes
Did you enter the wrong password for your online banking codes and now the codes are locked? You have the possibility to open the locked online banking codes when they are locked due to too many wrong attempts to enter your password. The opening service is automatically available to you if your mobile phone number is in the customer data. If your online bank has been locked due to the wrong security codes or wrong user ID, please contact the bank.
When your codes are locked, you will receive a notification that your online banking codes are locked when you try to log in to the online bank. The notification contains a link that you can click on to receive a text message on your phone, which contains a security code that you need to unlock the online banking codes. What you need for unlocking the codes:
- Personal ID or business ID
2. Online bank user ID
3. The correct security code from your key code card.
4. The security code sent to your mobile phone
Enter the required information in their own fields and click on ‘Open’. If the information is correct, the system will inform you that you have successfully opened your user ID. You can now log in to the online bank. Please note that after opening the locked user ID, your password in your online bank will be the number corresponding to key code 01 on your key code card. The system will then ask you to create a new password and confirm it with a security code.
